- The box nail is a pretty standard nail with a flat, big head. However, they are surprisingly lightweight. They are usually used for wood appliances, as they stop the wood from splitting. However, they aren’t as strong as other nails.
- Finish nails have a very small head size. This is perfect for situations in which you don’t really want the nail head to be visible. Once in place, it is very hard to still spot them.

- Masonry nails have cut indents in them and are made of extra strong steel. They have the most holding power of all nails. They also have grooves, however, which means that they can only be put in place using a very strong hammer. In fact, most people will use a sledge hemmer to get them in position. And if you don’t hit them straight, the nail will usually break or bend.
